I have a lot of student loan debt from medical school. How soon should I pay it off?

I don’t have a well paying job yet, but anticipate having a good job in one year. Should I knock myself out to pay off the loans as soon as possible or make minimum payments every month? I’ve heard 2 different theories about this, one saying pay loans off as soon as possible, the other saying make minimum payments. Help?

Does student loan debt hinder getting a mortgage?

I was watching a tv show on HGTV about people buying their first houses, and one of the families couldn’t get a decent mortgage amount because they had credit card debt. Is that just because the credit card debt affected their credit in general? If someone has student loan debt can they still get a mortgage as long as they are meeting at least the minimum payments?
Pretend you are talking to a 12 year old. I have no financial experience yet.

Is it worth paying stud loan debt quicker or saving for house down payment?

I don’t HAVE to ever buy a house because I’m single (&planning on staying that way) and happily sharing a large house with a roommate(only $450/mo.). I make about $3300/mo., but I have a $36,000 stud loan I’m paying on. I have no other debt and I can write-off the interest from the stud loan on my taxes.I’ve been paying double payments on that loan recently, but I’m wondering if this is a bad idea. Should I only pay the minimum payments instead and save for a future house down payment in case I change my mind??????????????????
